For most of my life, when someone asked how I was, I said ‘fine.’ I said it to doctors, to my students, to the woman I loved, and I meant it as an act of kindness. This book is what that kindness cost.
The copies sold here are the ones that pass through my hands. I sign each one in my home office, with the same hand I used to draw the ten faces on the cover, and if you tell me a name at checkout, I'll write it in. Some readers want their own name. Some want the name of a person they've been quietly carrying. Either way, the inscription is a small thing I get to do that the book itself couldn't: say it directly to you.
If a signature doesn't matter to you, that's fine too. The ebook and the unsigned paperback are at every retailer through The Book page, and the story is identical. What's different here is that the first person to hold your copy, before it goes in the mailer, is the one who wrote it.
Paperback, six by nine, cream paper. Shipping within the United States is included via USPS Media Mail, so allow up to a week once it leaves my hands.
Your confirmation email comes from Anacrusis Press via Squarespace. If it isn't in your inbox within a few minutes, check spam and mark it as “not spam” so the shipping notice gets through.
